Spring into … Spring!
Welcome back! It’s been an exciting winter here at Hobby Wheel, but its looking to be about time to start springing into spring! That means it’s time for bikes, cleaning, and of course, plenty of mud. And while the trails might be a little soggy yet, there’s still plenty to be excited for!
Best time for a tune
How was your bike stored this winter? Hanging in the garage, leaning in the shed, wheels off in the basement? Chances are, something isn’t quite right with it after collecting dust for the past 6 months. That’s where we come in! Now you can beat the rush and get your bike(s) checked over and back to you before the trails are even hard!
News Roundup
There’s plenty of excitement from the blog hiatus, but not everything fits in here so I’ll just hit the recent big news.
Specialized Turbo Levo 4
Turns out, bigger is better. The Specialized Levo returns with a new look this year, with more power, more battery, and updated geometry and suspension kinematics. The full details are available on specilized’s website.
SRAM Eagle Transmition 90 and 70
Cables? In this day and age? Yes, SRAM has returned to the tried-and-true formula for shifting, but with a durable new feature – Direct mount. Yes, the durability from the T-Type that we’ve seen in wireless for the past years finally makes it into cable in the new SRAM Eagle Transmission 90 and 70 systems.
SRAM Motive Brakes
SRAM also revamped their lighter brakes, following in the steps of last years maven brakes, the new motive brake takes the place of both the level and the G2, providing solid stopping with 4-piston calipers with a light build to cover the full range from XC race to trail riding, while the maven remains the heavy duty enduro and downhill brake. Both come in a new ultimate package in a special blue color this year.
Rockshox Reverb AXS
Rockshox also couldn’t be outdone, releasing an updated reverb axs in a range from 100mm up to a whopping 250mm, making it the longest available dropper. It also comes with updated battery placement, which I’m sure is a welcome change for riders with tire clearance issues with the old design.
There is plenty more news, but for the sake of keeping this blog less than a 30-minute read they’ll have to wait.
Incoming Reviews
During the off weeks from the blog, we’ll be releasing editions of gear reviews, covering a few items per review, and going into the specs, the good, and maybe some shortcomings and other options. The first couple will be featuring some ski equipment but don’t worry, we’ll switch over to bikes soon enough.
It’s a good time for blogs to come back with the new season, and there’s plenty of exciting events and things planned for the summer so keep your eyes peeled for any new info! In the meantime,
Happy Adventuring!
